Landgoed Elswout was a country estate for a long time. The original house (of which there is nothing left) was hardly finished in 1635 when it was sold to Gabriel Marcelis, an Amsterdam arms dealer for the king of Denmark.

Today the estate is open to the public. The Orangerie houses a restaurant that is rented for weddings and other events.
