Art Nouveau
Haarlem station is the only Dutch station built in Art Nouveau style or Art Nouveau style. The building is decorated with tiles, stained glass, carvings and ornamental wrought iron. The original waiting rooms for the first, second and third class are still on the platform. The third-class waiting room is now a cafeteria.

The signal box
The original signal box is still in the middle of the platform. It was also known as the ‘signalhouse’ or the signalhouse fort and had the station master keep all incoming and outgoing trains in sight. Those who miss the train in Haarlem can wander around to discover all the special aspects of the building.
